Photo Diary | Afternoon Tea at Lounge 12

Friday, 9 September 2016

Hey everyone! It's Friday once again and it seems like weeks go really quickly when I actually stick to my blogging schedule! As I mentioned in my Happy List last week, as part of my Birthday Bonanza, Young Man arranged for us to go for Afternoon Tea at Manchester House's Lounge on 12.

If you've been reading this blog for a while, or follow me on instagram, you'll know that tea and cake are my two major food groups, so it will come as no surprise to you that of all the things I could have asked to be included in the Birthday Bonanza, my one request was that some time was made to go somewhere fancy for a sweet treat.

Review | Afternoon Tea at 108 Marylebone Lane...

Friday, 15 April 2016

Happy Friday everyone! How has your week been? This has been my first full week in the office for a while, got to love those 3 day weekends, but sometimes it's nice to get back to routine isn't it! Today I wanted to chat with you  a bit more about the delicous afternoon tea we had as part of my friends hen do a few weekends ago at 108 Marylebonelane.

I don't go to London very often, and despite having read 100's of blog posts about delicous places for breakfast, brunch, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, evening drinks and everything else in between I still end up feeling overwhelmed with choice. And shamefully, quite often end up in a Starbucks. So when I get to visit the capital and my itinerary is already planned out for me I instantly feel relieved!

When I found out we were going for afternoon tea, I immediately googled 108 Marylebone Lane and was won over by the idylic pictures of their front door and outside tables and my mouth was watering before I'd even left Preston.

Recipe: Red Pepper and Goats Cheese Tart

Wednesday, 6 April 2016

It has been literally forever since I shared a recipe post! Wel not literally but you know what I mean. The main reason for that is that for most of last year I was a vegan, I spoke about how easy being vegan actually was, shared some tips, and some easy recipes, and thought I had well and truly signed up to that diet. And then... I ate some cake... and then I ate some cheese... and then I started drinking breakfast tea with milk in again... and then I ate meat and I stopped being vegan, but didn't really know how to admit that.

Part of me felt guilty, part of me felt confused, and part of me was embarrassed. I didn't want to be another one of those people who 'was a vegan for a while' but the truth is I am one of those people. I had a label and now I don't. I thought if all of a sudden I started sharing pictures of none vegan food on instagram, or shared a recipe with you that contained milk I'd some how be some sort of hypocrite. And then I realised that hiding what I was eating was even worse! Even if I'd stopped telling people I was a vegan and even though I dn't ost about being vegan anymore, keeping quiet about it some how felt fraudulent.

So here I am, revealing the truth. I no longer subscribe to any one diet. And yes I get questions and 'knowing' looks from people when they suddenly see that my plate isn't full of just veg, but more and more I'm realising, that unless it is a doctor or a nutritionist, it really is nobody elses business what I'm having for dinner.

I'm still trying to work out whether or not I want to subscribe to any one given diet, and my thoughts and feelings on that are probably a whole other post, but in the mean time I am enjoying trying new things, cooking whatever the hec I like, and just getting back into the kitchen. So with all that in mind here is a super easy and delicous recipe for a Red Pepper and Goats Cheese tart I knocked up for tea one night last week.

My Favourite Date Spots in the North West...

Friday, 18 March 2016

Hey everyone! Happy Friday! How are you? I'm not going to lie, this hasn't been the best week for me. Unfortunately the funding didn't come through for the project I work on leaving me in a bit of an unstable position job wise, but I'll save that for a different post.

Today I wanted to share with you some of favourite places to go on a date in the North West. My stress and worry started waaaaaaaaaaay before this week, and I'd probably have lost my mind if it wasn't for some much needed adventuring and date day and nights with the young man. We haven't been able to book a proper holiday and that is on the back burner for the foreseeable future, so afternoons exploring new places and switching off in old favourites has been a big priority for me lately. I think date days are really important not just for romantic relationships but for friendships and families too. Sometimes we forget to carve out dedicated time just to be with people and spare time gets filled up with chores and any time we do spend together can be taken for granted, ending up in the same old places and doing the same old thing. So if this weekend you're in the North West and looking for something different or special to do, here are some of the places and ways to spend time together the young man and I love...

Review | Ahmad Tea...

Friday, 4 March 2016

A while ago I made the decision that I wasn't going to accept any more invitations to review products from companies I wasn't already familiar with. I know, sounds a little crazy right? One of the best things about being a blogger is, let's all just admit it, being sent free stuff, but the fact is I don't really enjoy reviewing products that I haven't genuinely loved, and when a company is inviting you to review a product that you've never heard off, there simply is no guarantee you’re going to want to say nice things about it. And while I’ve never given a review that wasn’t 100% my honest opinion, writing a bad review always feels a little ungrateful.

So I made the decision that I would still review things off my own back, because I still want to tell you all about the places I love and the things I've tried, but generally, being sent a box of something in the post, and writing about it just because somebody had sent me it, isn’t for me.

The exception to this rule is tea.

Losing my appetite...

Wednesday, 23 September 2015

Hello everyone how are you? Today I was supposed to post an Autumn based salad recipe. At least that is what I had written in my oft-neglected weekly schedule, but just two weeks after posting about, how I was going to clean up my eating habits for September, I have to confess that hasn't happened. Not even a little bit.
