Happy Friday #3...

Friday 2 October 2015

Happy Friday everyone! How are you? So guess what happens when you only post a happy list every fortnight? You accumulate a TON of stuff to smile about that's flipping what! Is it just me or have the last two weeks utterly flown by? Sometimes it feels like all these moments pile up on top of one another and while you're in it, and loving it, you're also not really appreciating it, and a bit scared that some things will pass you by unnoticed. Then, as a blogger and writer, there are other times when I feel like I spend so much time documenting what has happened, that I am also missing out on other things that are currently happening. Maybe I should just appreciate that I am lucky enough to have a life full of moments that are worth appreciating and capture as many of them as I can. Speaking of which on to the happy list...
1.  A super Autumny-Autumn...
Ok, I think we are all agreed that Summer just didn't really tick all the summery boxes did it? But Autumn is really bringing it on the seasonal front. Bright sunshiney days with just the right level of crisp in the air. Not to linger on the blogger cliche too long, but just how good the weather, and the sunsets, and the views are at the moment is making me happy everyday. Whether that is while I'm taking an after work stroll in the park, or sitting with my window open on an evening, watching the sun fade, a chill in the air, and a hot chocolate in my hand. Well done Autumn, of all the seasons this year, you have really nailed it so far.
2.  A trip to Crafty Vintage and Hoghton Tower...
Full credit for the above photos of me at Hoghton Tower goes to the Young Man. Last Sunday we decided we should explore a bit further afield, and actually get out of Manchester/Blackburn, so we headed up the Crafty Vintage Fair at Hoghton Tower, which is in fact only 15 minutes away but felt like a completely different part of the country! Which was of course helped by the gorgeous weather! We had a wander around the market stalls, grabbed some street food and a bag of macarona, and then went on the HOUR AND A HALF house tour, which was admittedly a tad long! Over detailed tours about wood panelling aside, it really was a lovely Sunday afternoon out and reminded me of our trip to Ingleton!
3.  Friends that you can literally spend all afternoon laughing at the same joke with...
It was one of my best friends birthdays last week, and even though he only lives down the road in Bolton, like my friends in Manchester, we've all got super busy lives and conflicting diaries. However, we managed a whole afternoon together on Saturday, and when we weren't catching up with one another, we were laughing at a joke, that just wouldn't make sense to anyone else. Inside jokes ehy? Great to be inside of, not so great to read about, but I'm sure you've all got that friend and so can relate to this point!
4.  My trip to Venice being just around the corner...
A week today I will be jetting off for Venice, and at this point in time, I know absolutely nothing about the plan or details for the weekend or really Venice itself. Until the beginning of this week I thought we were only staying for 2 nights, turns out it's 3, which is of course a nice surprise! I've got a quiet weekend coming up so I'm going to read up and research (instagram stalk #venice) so that I don't have quite as many tourist attraction fails as I did in Milan last year!
5.  Getting back in the kitchen...
So I still haven't fully decided about no longer being vegan, or whether I want to follow any specific diet/lifestyle, but what I do know is that I've really enjoyed getting back in the kitchen this week. Especially as the over riding common theme has been healthy food. Plus the left overs for lunch are not only super tasty, but are really helping me stick to my budget!
6.  Winning at the Pub quiz...
The Young Man, is a big general knowledge/pub quiz fan. I am regularly, and embarrassingly defeated by him on the Quiz Up app. Even in the theatre category. However, turns out together we make quite the quiz team! Heck going to the pub quiz would have been on this list even if we hadn't won, simply because we called ourselves (I called us) Trivia Newton John.
7.  Feeling like my days are just nicely full...
So there have been some changes at work recently, and I'm working on my new show too, but rather than feeling swamped I feel like each day is exactly the right amount of full. Maybe because I've decided to give up glorifying being busy, because it doesn't do me or my work any good, but going to bed on an evening, tired but not exhausted and knowing that you were exactly as productive as you needed to be that day is a good feeling!
8.  Counting down the days until my best friend moves back North...
Lucy is coming home! And I. Can't. Flipping. Wait. While in reality we still won't be able to see eachother every week, right now we're fantasising about her being able to pop over on a week night and just stick Netflix on. Because my trips to see her in London have been amazing, but nothing beats a laid back evening with your best friend that takes no real planning, does it?
9.  Good TV...
Like everyone else I've been hooked on Bake Off this year, and I can not believe we are at the final already, but I'm not going to despair too much because Once Upon a Time has started again, as has Grey's Anatomy (erm, what do you mean I *shouldn't* stream to keep up with America?), and don't ask me why but I love The Apprentice which returns to our screens in a few weeks too. While I don't have a tv, because I'm not fussed about it just being 'on in the background,' I do love carving out some space in my week for those shows I really want to watch!
10.  Coloured tights...
Ok, I'm just going to come out and say it. I don't really like knitwear. At least I don't really like it on me. Every year I look at all these gorgeous jumpers and thick knit cardigans and think "maybe this year I will find the perfect one", then I go to the dressing room try one on and look like (or at least feel like) a knitted toy elephant that has been through the washing machine one too many times. So while everybody else in the UK gets excited about cable, I'm freaking out about getting to wear coloured tights again. And ankle boots, because I'm not a total weirdo.

There you have it, this fortnights happy list! What has made you smile lately? I'm really enjoying making time on a Friday to post something feel good, whether that's a happy list or a longer catch up! When Monday's are al; about good intentions and looking forward I feel like Fridays are good days to appreciate the good you already have! Hope you've all got lovely weekends planned, I've not got much lined up, but I am finishing work early this afternoon, for a long awaited friend date!

Live life & be happy x
